Every great business has a story. Ours begins with a nickname.

"Kaki" — the name our parents lovingly called me growing up — became the name of our business because from the very beginning, this was never just a bakery. It was a family endeavour, built on shared passion, individual expertise, and a deep belief that desserts should be both beautiful and wholesome.

Born During a Pandemic

Kaki Desserts was born during one of the most challenging periods in recent history — the COVID-19 pandemic. While businesses around Hong Kong were closing their doors, we were opening ours, starting from the most humble of beginnings: our home kitchen.

With the city at a standstill, there was something quietly powerful about creating something sweet and meaningful from home. What started as a passion project quickly found its audience — people who craved something special, something made with care, delivered to their door.

The Honey Cake That Started It All

Our very first creation was HONEYBEE — our signature honey cake, and to this day, our bestseller.

The inspiration was deeply personal. Growing up, our family always had 100% pure honey at home. It was a staple, a remedy, a daily ritual. So when it came time to build a cake collection, the question felt natural: why not replace refined sugar with honey entirely?

That simple idea became the foundation of our Signature Honey Cake collection — a refined sugar-free range built on the natural sweetness of premium floral honey. Light, aromatic, and guilt-free, HONEYBEE resonated with Hong Kong's growing appetite for "less sweet" (少甜) desserts that don't compromise on flavour or artistry.

A Sibling Team, Each Bringing Their Best

Kaki Desserts has always been a family business in the truest sense. While I focus on the cakes — the recipes, the craftsmanship, the flavours — my little brother brought our studio to life through his eye for interior design and decoration. My bigger brother handled the technology and digital side, building the foundation that allows us to reach customers across Hong Kong.

Three siblings, three areas of expertise, one shared vision. That is the heart of Kaki Desserts.

 

A Friend's Request That Changed Everything

As our honey cake collection grew, an unexpected door opened. A close friend asked if I could create a two-tiered cake for her aunt's 60th birthday celebration. It was a challenge I had never taken on before — but I said yes.

That single cake changed the direction of Kaki Desserts forever.

The more I ventured into tiered and bespoke custom cakes, the more I fell in love with the creative possibilities. Unlike the precision of our honey cake collection, bespoke cakes offered an entirely different kind of artistry — a blank canvas where every celebration could be expressed through sugar, colour, texture, and design. From personalised Letter and Number Cakes to elegant vintage-inspired tiered creations for weddings, our bespoke range became a second pillar of everything Kaki Desserts stands for.

From Home Kitchen to Kwun Tong Studio

After years of growth, late nights, and countless cakes crafted with love, Kaki Desserts outgrew our home kitchen. We opened our studio in Kwun Tong — a space designed by my brother, built for creativity, and dedicated to the craft that started it all.

Our Kwun Tong studio is where every cake is made by hand, where custom orders come to life, and where customers can pick up their creations and receive guidance on how to transport their delicate cakes safely home.

Our Philosophy: Mindful Luxury

At Kaki Desserts, we believe that true indulgence should never come at the expense of well-being. Our Signature Honey Cake collection is entirely free from refined sugar — sweetened only by nature's finest honey. Our bespoke custom cakes are crafted with the artistry, using traditional ingredients to achieve their classic flavour and beauty.
